How would you define Occupy ?

Is a global movement, the natural (more sane, more coherent) response to what humanity has brought about to the planet and our species.

What were you doing before Occupy ?

I was an environmental activist and this comes along with strong gender activism as well

Why did you participate in Occupy?

I just felt the right thing to do, to be consitent and coherent with myself

What impact did Occupy have on your personal life?

HUGE impact! I learned a lot about myself apart from acquiring skills that are helping me to improve my life and also people around me

Did Occupy change the ways you think, feel and interact with the world? If yes, how so? What do you feel that you learned (or unlearned) that was unique to Occupy?

More than changing my ways Occupy helped me to find the courage and support to do what I feel is right.

What I learned thanks to Occupy is that we humans are connected in a special way, I found surprising coincidences in occupations across the globe, it was like we were following one single heart.

What impact do you think Occupy has had on the economic and political situation?

In Spain it helped a lot of people to “wake up” from the consumerist dream, they will probably will not take any action but at least deep inside they know that there is a way out.

Given the current political and economic situation, what is your view on what people can do to bring long lasting systemic change?

Coming from the environmental movement I always highlight that change does not have to come from the top, things will change if people massively stop consuming this much, there are better and much cheaper ways to fill up the emptiness and cope with the fear that we all feel.

What I share is not an advice because degrowth is not a choice, it is simply matter of time.

Before Occupy, were you involved in activities related to the reasons why you participated in Occupy? (Activist groups, campaign groups, media platforms, volunteering, research, etc)

Yes

Are you still involved in activities related to the reasons why you participated in Occupy? (Activist groups, campaign groups, media platforms, volunteering, research, etc)

Yes

Are you still actively working or engaged with people that you met through Occupy?

Yes

What kind of activities are you doing together?

My husband and I moved to a place where people are trying to sustain a life style accordingly to Occupy principles
